Under the leadership of Mukhtar Dzhakishev, Kazatomprom became the world’s No. 1 uranium producer — through rapid modular deployment and eco-efficient leaching. The same disciplined, modular approach now drives the nickel revolution.
From 1997 to 2008, Mukhtar Dzhakishev transformed Kazakhstan into the world’s largest uranium producer through the introduction of advanced in-situ leaching technologies and a modular scaling model. These innovations allowed Kazatomprom to rapidly deploy standardized production units with lower environmental impact and high capital efficiency.
Today, that proven approach to industrial scaling is being applied to nickel through Sary Arka Mining Company. While our nickel technology is not an in-situ leaching process, it is a novel low-pressure, low-temperature hydrometallurgical system designed for direct production of nickel and cobalt sulfates with minimal environmental footprint.
